What’s up everyone!
Have you ever started something you enjoy so much that time seems to fly by? You're having a great time, completely immersed, and before you know it, your stomach starts rumbling and you realize you're hungry.
But even then, it's hard to tear yourself away to go to the kitchen or even check the time. This happens to me a lot, especially when I get really absorbed in a game.
This right here is a classic ADHD moment. You dive into that flow state, totally forgetting about eating, drinking, or even taking a bathroom break. It's like my body's turned to stone, moving feels impossible! I mean, if there isn't a glass of water within arm's reach, I won't budge. I'll just keep pushing through.
I have a love-hate relationship with this state. On one hand, I'm smashing through tasks, maybe even conquering a new game. But on the other hand, I'm stuck, unable to peel myself away even when I desperately need a breather.
Sure, I eventually manage a bathroom break after a few nudges. But grabbing a snack or a drink? Ha, forget about it.
There's one trick I've heard might help, setting a timer. Simple, right? Well, not quite. First, I have to remember to set it in the first place. Then, when it finally goes off, actually taking a break is a whole other challenge.
When that timer buzzes, it should be my cue to hit the kitchen or bathroom. But, as I've said, following through is easier said than done.
Video games are my prime trigger for this deep concentration. When I'm drawing, I can manage a bathroom break easier, but grabbing a drink? Nah, I'll ignore my thirst until the drawing's done.
Ever heard of the 20-20-20 rule? It's about looking away from your screen every 20 minutes, focusing on something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Apparently, it helps.
I'm no expert on this stuff, and I've never gotten professional advice for it. But hey, improving would be great, if only I could remember to set that timer.
What about you?

🌻 New Art
This week has been an explosion of creativity! I've whipped up 6 different artworks, 3 digital and 3 traditional. But here's the twist, only 4 will make their debut here. The other 2 are hiding out on Patreon, waiting to be discovered! For free! 😁
(1st) I decided work grey paper and only black and white. One grey marker. Not sure if I will continue.
(2nd) For my whale shark, I reflected on my previous mistakes with the seals from last week. This time, I used the entire page and experimented with colors instead of just copying the reference.
(3rd) Unexpectedly, I wanted to do a messy color study sketch, inspired by something I tried during Nathan Fowkes’ Schoolism workshop but never completed.
(4th) I also felt like drawing Shinso from My Hero Academia, using a clothing figure reference. I didn't do a frame study for this one and streamed the entire coloring process.

I can hit that flow state when I’m doing spreadsheets at work. My coffee goes cold and I realize eventually I need a bathroom break. The only difference is, it’s not fun
