What’s up!
Most of my character poses end up looking very stiff. Do you know why? It's because I keep forgetting about the line of action!
One evening, I was sitting outside on my balcony with my book on "Stylized Characters" in my lap. As I reached the section on the line of action, I realized that I consistently overlook its importance.
It was a pleasant evening read after walking Kili.
So, what exactly is the "line of action"? It's an imaginary line that helps you understand and exaggerate the movement and pose of your character. In other words, it prevents your character from looking stiff!
This technique can be applied to virtually anything, whether human or animal bodies.
I used to work with the line of action a few years ago, but for some reason, I stopped. Perhaps it's because I started working more digitally, importing reference images and essentially tracing their bases.
However, this method loses the essence of the line of action and exaggeration in the pose, making it challenging to incorporate later on, even though it's technically easier to do digitally.
After that evening read, though, I've begun to prioritize the line of action and incorporate it more consciously.
And you know what? Drawing those poses has become easier as a result. So far, I've only applied it to human figures, but I plan to use it for animals as well in the near future.
The movement and pose of your figures can either enhance or hinder your artwork.

🌻 New Art
Even if its just ONE image, its still count as two. Been doing little more traditional, with my watercolor pencils. And it starting to get more and more fun. Maybe should not do big illustrations as on right, got bored at the end. You can see it in the clouds.

I took a look at the store, even though I don’t need anything now. Very nice though!
Cool, but how do draw the line of action?
