A Street Photographer’s Short Trip Through Two Swedish Cities
What Stops Me from Taking Photos in Public?
Hey you!
So the other week, I went on a bit of a spontaneous adventure, first to Linköping, then to Norrköping. The goal? A little street photography, a headphone test, and maybe some unexpected discoveries along the way. 😉
Let’s start in Linköping.
I tagged along with my dad who needed to help my brother’s girlfriend, they needed to take their cat to the vet. While we were there, I figured I’d make the most of it and pop into HiFi Klubben to try some new headphones I’d been eyeing.
The headphone testing lasted… maybe two seconds. I get super stressed trying out stuff in stores. Anyone else feel that? You’re standing there, trying to pretend like you’re relaxed, but your brain’s screaming: “Leave now!” The headphones has also been worn by so many others, so you don't even know if they fit right. There were not charged so you could not fully test them either. I honestly prefer testing things at home, in peace, with my own playlist. Do you feel the same? Or are you one of those chill, try-before-you-buy types?
Anyway, I was in the center of Linköping, which is actually rare for me. So I brought out the camera and snapped a few shots. It had just rained, and the sun peeked through right after, making the wet road to steam.
But still, I didn’t take many photos. I get so self-conscious shooting in public. I know, people probably don’t care, but growing up, people did stare and make fun of me. That kind of stuff sticks. I also don’t want to bother anyone or catch someone in a photo who doesn’t want to be there.
Still, I wish I had taken more. Maybe I’ll go back soon, with photography as the only mission.

One of the shots I did take, I’ve turned into an exclusive wallpaper pack for my Patreon supporters. So if you want a little piece of this photo adventure for your phone, tablet, or desktop and want to support my work, you can grab it here:
Thanks so much for being here and supporting what I do. Seriously, it means the world. 😊
Next Stop: Norrköping
The next day, I went to Norrköping. Why? Because the Swedish Championships (SM) were happening that week. Sounds exciting, right? Except… we didn’t see much of it. It was super unclear where anything was actually taking place. Not exactly the best organized event signage-wise.
We ended up at the disc golf course during a break. Typical, right? I actually enjoy disc golf and wanted to watch some action, especially since they weren’t even filming it. Oh well. 🤷♂️
Eventually, we found our way into town to explore the main event area. But again, no signs, no directions. I only found the place because I Googled it the day before. Everything’s “just download the app” these days. I’m really over that.
When we finally landed in the right spot, I brought out the camera again. I took a few photos here and there. But again, so many people around. I don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable or be the main subject by accident. It’s a tricky line to walk, especially with all the laws around that stuff.
Still, I reminded myself, I don’t have to publish every photo I take. Some can just be for me. I’m planning to go back again later this month, fully focused on photography. Fingers crossed the weather behaves!

This little adventure reminded me why I love photography. It’s like a mini escape, a way to capture a moment, feel present, and maybe even use it later for a drawing.
That’s all for now. More to come, as always!
Until next time!
