Hello in the winter darkness!
Okey I have decided one thing about my Youtube Channel. And that is to do all my new art book reviews FIRST on this newsletter and few week later on Youtube!
My art reviews videos is my best ones I got on my channel. (I hope one day my other art videos will get the same love)
But I don’t want to be THE art book review channel. And I want to grow this newsletter. So why not offer that cool review videos first here?
Sounds like a nice plan right?
So from now on you will see art books reviews on here. And ALWAYS FIRST HERE!
Also you get to know when I get new books first here too. 😉
Christmas Movies
First advent is soon here! And do you know what that means? 😁
Its time to start watching Christmas movies 😊
I always watching Christmas movies this time of the year, make some hot chocolate, chips and candy. And I’m all set.
But there is some movies I always watch, every year. Movies that MUST watch during Christmas.
Home Alone 1-3
Jingle All the Way
The Lord of the Ring Trilogy
Klaus (but don’t have Netflix..)
The Muppet Christmas Carol
The Santa Clause 1-3
What Christmas movies are a must watch for you every year? 😁
My Art Journey
After 2 years with Schoolism, its time to not pay for another year. Instead I went for one year of Premium of Artwod instead. And I’m liking it so far!
Keeping me company to get my art to the next stage while freezing in my own apartment.🥶
Also I have not been in a drawing mood lately either. A lot has happen. Like doctor visit about my headache (Not migraine, next step is with a physiotherapist). Also got a time with the people taking care about the dailies activities, this week on Thursday.
And I just not felt like drawing. Not even that frame study I was working on last week.
Life gets between creativity sometimes. 😞
From one thing to another!
Procreate Dreams is offfically out on the iPad as of November 22! I have not yet bought it. But will some day. I know Aron Blaise will make a course about it.
Also another thing got up on pre-order on that very same day, Rebelle 7!
Its as of now 80%, and the price will increase the close it gets to release date of December 14th. Grab it while it this low! I did. And review will come in January 😁
Rebelle 6 Review
A while back when I was testing out different Drawing software I downloaded Rebelle think it was 4 or 5. Not sure.
Anyhow I created a sketch before hand that I wanted to work on.
So when I was about to try it out, I was not allowed to import my own PSD file. So I gave up and never looked back.
UNTIL NOW!
Few weeks ago I was watching a webinar, and the artist used Rebelle 6. And that made me think. Maybe I should give it another shot.
So I downloaded the trial.
The trail is 30days and you can choose between the standard version or the Pro.
I mostly used the standard, because that was the one I was aiming on getting.
The extra Pro version had was not worth it in my eyes.
So started o draw a mountain scene. Playing around with all the different tools. And of course saved it in. Case it would crash. (You never know)
Well The import thing I talked about early is still a thing in trial today. But I thought it was only with outside files like PSD.
But it applies on their own file too… Kinds of stupid…
That mades things harder for me to try this thing out. I needed to complete the drawing in one sitting instead of multiple days.
I tried to experiment with different mediums. They are very know to mimic traditional medium like watercolors, oils etc. And they are. IT looked amazing!
When setting up a. Canvas you can choose the paper texture and colors. Super cool! I mostly use Hot Press paper texture. Learned about it in a water colors course. 🤣
Well I did a figure drawing study in Rebelle. But I forgot to save it in JPG… You see in Rebelle they don’t have that ”export” button that many other programs do.
You need to do it via ”Save As”. And I always forget changing it from Rebelle’s own file to JPEG, PNG etc.
Once you do that, the other fun settings shows up.
As of Rebelle 6, does not rune native on Apple Silicon. Something Rebelle 7 will do. And a review will come on that too. Once it out on December 14th. (Yes I will buy it, the deal is to good to be true!)
And installation was not the same as on other. I had to manually drag the icon in to application folder to make ti stick. Other wise it would turn up as a ”device” that need to get ”ejected”.
Over all I liking this drawing software! And I hope it will replace Clip Studio Paint for me in the future.
I just need to get more friends with sketching. Using the Pencil brushes they offer was not good for me…
I used more pressure on my wrist while using them, something I do not want.
But I found other great brushes after I was done.
Used these pencil brushes when woking on my figure drawing piece.
So want a drawing software that mimic traditional medium, don’t look further! Rebelle is for you!
Standard version is the cheaper option, while Pro cost little more with extra features.
