Inktober Excitement: Preparing for a Month of Art
What’s up Howlers!
Where did the summer go?
It’s been a very rainy July and August. Rain pretty much everyday.
Plus a big thunderstorm to top it off called Hans. And I mean a big one.
It lasted for like 2h. Then it came back 2h later for another hour.
Kind of inspiring to watch it light up the sky. Because most of those lightnings were between the clouds. Because I never saw them.
But when the rest of Europe get all the sun and heat, someone need to get all the rain right? 🤪
Do you also enjoy watching listening to thunderstorms?
I hate My GoPro Hero 7
I hate my GoPro Hero 7 Black so freaking much! GAAh! 😡
Why you might ask?
Well ever since I bought it I had problems with it. And the support does nothing about it….
So the problem is that it does not turn off the right way.
I still get those sound when I shut it off, but somehow it stays on. So next time I gonna use it, it’s DEAD!
That really ruins the moment when I’m planning on using it for something.
Also learned that when a new GoPro get released (often around October) The next year is already done….
How I know?
Well one of the ambassadors was filming for their promo once in the snow, and said they did that in March. Not many months after the previous model came out.
So I’m planning on buying something else. I do want the new Insta360 Go3. But it’s SUPER EXPENSIVE here in Sweden. We have a hidden law things that rise the price on things when storage is used….. 🤡 They say its because of Piracy, but all photos etc is our own…..🤦♂️
Another one is DJI Action 2. I kind of want a smaller form factor, I think iy will come handy when filming some art videos 😁
DJI did release a new one Action 4. And I have been looking at that too!.
We will see what I will end up with.
GoPro Hero 12 is just around the corner.

Ever since the teaser for the Shibuya arc for Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 dropped. The new song from King Gnu - Specialz have been on repeat !
Gosh I love this one so much. And the opening is even more flawless!
Drawing Makes Me Happy 😁
For many years I thought I only could drain my energy. Never gain new during the day. Until recently.
When I having a good day drawing. Everything goes well, I just get happy. I start smiling, and I get a rush in my body. A rush of energy. Meaning I get so much new energy and happiness, that I have no idea what to do with it.
Sadly these things only last like 30min-1h. After my energy is back to -0.
But then I got these days I feel restless but at the same time tired. And a very strong feeling that I wanna draw. Those days is no fun! Because every drawing turn out bad…. So its better to just stop. And find something else.
And if I dont feel like drawing something that also can ruin stuff.
So draw things that makes YOU happy. 😊 And don’t ruin it by doing something stupid after.
Inktober is Around the Corner!
Inktober is just around the corner! Are you ready for it ? I’m so not ready for it.
I saw the list for this year, via Inktober own site. Or even here on Substack to be honest.
Not seen other prompts lists from Cubebrush or Affinity yet. But they will come.
Not sure which list I wanna follow or I will take from them all.
What I do know is that I gonna try to do it this time! I always stops at day 4. But this time I got a plan! A good plan!
A plan on using Graphite pencils! Yes I gonna do traditional art! Was thinking of doing Vector. But knowing me, that won’t work more than 4 days.
I need something that I know I will complete pretty fast. Nothing that will takes days to complete. Or need too much details etc.
Graphite pencils is my thing now! Let’s ROLL OUT!
What have a I worked on?
One day I was just searching ”bird” on Unsplash and found this cute little red bird. (No idea name) So I drew it 😁 Of course with graphite pencils.
Drew Tarus as a Chibi. In Despair. Record it for an upcoming Podcast episode.
Hakai is a new character of mine. And has the blood line of the Titan Perses. And can become a little madness when crap goes wrong. 🤪 Btw did you know Hakai means Destruction in Japanese. So guess what his powers is 😉
This summer has been awful in Sweden. We got super hot in June. But in July all the rain came! And that sparked this idea of a drawing. Tremor my Original Character. A character I wanted to explore more so I put him in a rain weather. Haha
To be honest with you all, sometimes I feel my sketches turn out much better than the final line work. When I started I always did a very “pretty” line work or inking if you prefer. But lately I have stopped doing those.
Because I dont feel they turn out good. My guess it that during my sketching stage I stay loose. Long lines, many lines, all over the place. But when doing line work I want them to become perfect…
So I kind of stopped doing those line work to be perfect. I just like it more this way. But sometimes I see beautiful art from example Patrick Brown, and he do line work. And its gosh 😍. And then I see art from Aaron Blaise and want to copy that. In the end I’m back to square one again. haha
Maybe I be able to cross both worlds at some point? 🤔
Shorts Experiment
On 3rd July I started a little experiment. I upload a shorts 3 days a week (week days only) for the whole month. Let’s see how it went.
When I started I had 601 Subscribers. When it ended 615 Subs.
5 out of them came from shorts.
So what do we learn from this? Well don’t be boring with your shorts…. I only uploaded time-lapses and did not even get above 100 views. Only ONE Shorts came above it during this time. This one
Also these types of shorts worked so great for me when shorts was new. But not anymore. People want something interesting, fun, even educational to watch these 60sec of their life.
So don’t think you shorts will magical make you grow like crazy out of no where.
I will keep uploading shorts, but I will take stuff I say during my streams to upload. Maybe those will get more attention. Because they will teach people something.
What am I reading?
I finally read my first fiction book! I’m so pound over myself. 🥳
Also ended up buying two new books. Did order a 3rd ”Beginner's Guide to Drawing Manga”, but they didn’t have it at home so have to order it at a later day.
Did get the box of all The Witcher books for Christmas. Started with the one that said 1. If I had looked on the back side of the book for more than 1 second I would have learned that there is 2 other books before it. 🤦♂️
Anyhow I loved this book! And I think the reason I could read it so good is that I took all the image I have seen of these character from the game and Netflix series.
And I can now understand why people dislike the Netflix series so much! I’m starting too. (Not seen new season yet)
The Author has created a lot of powerful women! And I love that too! Not the ”oh save me”, starting to get tired of that.
Took me over a month to read this. But I only read around 20min each day. And not everyday. Crap happens in life you know.
I recommend the book!
But I’m reading these two at the moment.
